Description:
No one likes to be alone during the holidays. For New York's most posh dating service, Personally Yours, it is the season to bring lonely hearts together. But Lieutenant Eve Dallas, on the trail of a ritualistic serial killer, has made a disturbing discovery: all of the victims have been traced to Personally Yours. As the murders continue, Eve enters into an elite world of people searching for their one true love--and a killer searching for his next victim. A world where the power of love leads men and women into the ultimate act of betrayal...
My Rating:
On the story...A killer who targets participates of a dating service is an interesting thriller set during the Holiday season.  With lots of secrets, Eve has tons on her plate ,but this killer gets too personal.
Reaction...It took me too long to figure out the killer.  The ending is the most memorable part of this one and had me sitting on the edge of my seat.  I'm loving the evolving relationship between Peabody and Eve and the hints of McNab and Peabody.
Roarke Check-in...Roarke had his moments as always but this one didn't have any that were especially memorable.  Though, I did feel for Eve in trying to figure out a Christmas gift for a man who buys planets.  Eek!

Conspiracy in Death by J.D. Robb
Series: In Death #8
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Pages: 308 (ebook)
Buy it: Amazon | Kindle | B&N | Book Depo

Description:
In the late 21st century, on the streets of New York City, a street sleeper is found murdered, his diseased heart removed with surgical precision. His death would typically drop to the bottom of a list of senseless and inexplicable killings, but Lieutenant Dallas, who "would stand for the dead and the living," is not about to let that happen. When her research uncovers similar crimes in several cities that were dropped under mysterious circumstances, Dallas knows she's facing a killer cruel enough to prey on the weakest in society and powerful enough to conspire an extensive cover up.

To complicate matters further, Dallas faces an equally troubling threat to her career when she's linked to the death of a fellow cop. Now she must fight to restore her good name as well as track down the killer.

On the story...A strategic attack touches the thing Eve holds most dear--her career--resulting in an emotional ride in this thriller.
Reaction...Eve under suspicion is a nerve wracking thing.  It made this read more intense and emotional.  Although there are many in this series, this is one I won't forget anytime soon.
Roarke check in...An angry Roarke is always a bit romantic.  In this one, we get to see him a little more uncontrolled.  Of course I loved it in this instance.

    1. Most of them are fun and they are quick thoughtless reads. Definitely perfect for my life right now.

  4. Someone else had mentioned this author as a good writer. I have done with Patterson Novels as very much the same now. I was looking for a different author to try. Have you read more of them? I wonder if I need to ring them from the beggining or with this one could you just read this without having read the others?

    1. I've read about 9 of them now. I like them. Reading them from the beginning is fun but you don't have to. If you find one, grab it.

  5. I have read Nora for a long time and am getting tired of her writing. Do you think the J.D. Robb books are similar, better than the ones published under the other name? I have read one book by J.D. I think it was something about rocks in the title (it was a long time ago) Would you suggest reading through this series?

    1. I haven't read one of her Nora Roberts title for some time. The J.D. Robb books are completely different. I'm surprised they are the same person. I'm enjoying this series right now so I'd suggest giving it a try. I find that there is a pattern so you might get tired of it eventually. I haven't yet. I'll keep you posted.
