This is a real problem. It is the reason I've yet to start Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. I'm an impatient person.
Do you have this problem? Which 2014 sequel will you be waiting for?
I just recently finished Cinder and tbh whilst I enjoyed the story I didn't devour it like I do with most books, but that could have been because I had a few interruptions with books that had to be reviewed. I did like the book but I wasn't running to grab Scarlet either which is strange cos it seems everyone is running not walking to the damn book store for this book!!! It's frustrating. I will probably wait to read Scarlet till the next release only because I will probably find other books high on my list to read before it :(
I have Scarlet in both book and audio form and can't decide which I will read. I listened to cinder on audio and loved it. There was so much hype so I didn't read it when everyone else did but truly enjoyed it. There's nothing wrong with waiting though.
Yes! I totally understand this. There are series I refuse to start until all the books in the series have been published. However, in Scarlet's defense, it's a self-contained story as much as it's a part of the larger arc of the Lunar Chronicles. I mean, Scarlet's story has a conclusion, even if Cinder's doesn't--yet.
For real!!! There are a few books in that category for me too! Shadow of Night will have to wait. Harry Potter did that to me and I damn near forgot the story line by the time the last book came out.
That's the reason I sometimes wait for a few of the books before I start because I hate to wait. Lol. I remember how it drive me crazy to wait for the newest Harry Potter book. I guess the only book I can think of that I'm waiting for is the last in the trilogy from Deborah Harkness.
It sucks to wait and I'm not a patient person. The HP book series is probably the last time I really waited like that. I've been good since then. Though...it is hard some times.
I can totally relate. A few years ago I was reading the trilogy The Stone Dance of the Chameleon. I read the first two volumes and then the last volume was published 6 years after the second!
I used to not care about waiting for sequels, but because I read more books since starting my book blogs, all of the books start blurring together. So I usually have to re-read books before their following books, and this can turn into a pain.
No I agree. It's SO hard to wait. You've made a smart choice.

DeleteScarlet is better than Cinder!!! Read it now - I finished it not too long ago, and you're missing out - don't wait :-)

ReplyDeleteYou are making it hard too! I read Cinder in December I believe. It seems like such a long wait till the next one.
DeleteDefinitely the reason I hold off on reading a LOT of sequels. By the time I read them people are talking about the next big series!
ReplyDeleteThat's fine with me. I don't have to be the first.
DeleteFor real!!! There are a few books in that category for me too! Shadow of Night will have to wait. Harry Potter did that to me and I damn near forgot the story line by the time the last book came out.
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me all the time and I don't like rereads. I usually just hope it comes back to me :)
DeleteSince I'm such a series nut, this is basically the story of my life.
ReplyDeleteI don't want it to be the story of my life. Le Sigh.

DeleteSo true and so sad!! Waiting kills cats, even more than curiosity
ReplyDeleteLol. Agreed!

ReplyDelete6 years!! That would break my heart and make me cranky.
DeleteI totally hate that!! But this series is SO good! I was going to try to wait, but I'll enjoy reading it all over again before the next book comes out.
ReplyDeleteIt is. Le Sigh. I don't like rereads so that's another part of my problem.

ReplyDeleteI don't have time for rereads nor do I like to do that. I just have to make it work, I guess.
DeleteThis is a real problem, that's why I'm spreading out the A Song of Ice and Fire series until the last book gets written!
ReplyDeleteHe takes a while to write his books right?
