Book Babble: Series of Unfortunate and Fortunate Events

Hello!!!!!!

I bet you guys thought I was gone forever, but that is not the case.

Eye Issues:  UNFORTUNATELY In early April I had an eye issue where I essentially burned the top layer of both my eyes by using the wrong contact solution and could could see for a week and could't read for 3 weeks.  So no internet for me.

Italy:  FORTUNATELY my eyes were better around the first of May.  Then... the Hubby and I went to Italy for vacation.  It was the trip of the lifetime.  I planned it the way I do things.  By looking up things and online, planning a budget, and seeing how it went.  It was FANTASTIC.

We went to Rome, Sardinia, Siena, Florence, Pisa, and Venice.  Learning about a different culture was life-changing.  And my view of food has changed entirely.

While on vacation, I read:
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell
Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walt
Waking up Pregnant by Mira Lyn Kelly
and half of Tatiana and Alexander by Paullina Simons

Not very much for 18 days, I know.

I also watched The Book Thief on the plane and thought it was well done.

I listened to Partials by Dan Wells but didn't finish that either.

Now I'm back and catching up at work.  More reading to come too (I hope).

  2. Ack, so sorry to hear about your eyes!! :( Thankfully you had an awesome trip to (sort of) balance it out.

I watched The Book Thief recently as well, although I STILL haven't read the book. I thought the film was so well done, though. Really moving.

My husband burned his eyes real bad a couple or years ago when Lime blew up in his face! It was so horrible! We didn't know if he would see again. But thank God he is fine but it took time!

What a great vacation! And you deserved it!

  6. This place is good with that- bringing in outside vendors to provide us with yummy things. I have ventured in here during many weekends.

  11. Good grief, that is terrifying about your eyes. So happy they have healed now. And your vacation does sound like an absolute dream, lucky :) I'm sure there were lifelong memories made there. That's a good amount of books for vacation time. I have heard nifty things about Eleanor and Park.
