My Review:
Like many people, coming into the new year I was faced with so much guilt over my awful holiday choices.  It wasn't just the food either.  It was the overall couch potato attitude I had developed (and the alcohol...I can't forget the alcohol).  So when I was offered a chance to get my hands on this book, I jumped at the opportunity.  And I urge everyone to give this one a try.  It's awesome.  Really.

There are so many things I loved about this book.  I think this fitness book is the most complete book I've seen.  The first third (or maybe quarter) discusses health in general and how to use the book.  The rest has a 28 day plan that includes daily food recommendations, exercises with pictures, scripture, a motivating story, and a song of the day.

On the food recommendations...
At first, I was a bit skeptical because I saw a lot of smoothies.  I personally like to eat my food rather than drink it.  But the smoothies only last for the first bit.  I also love how the food isn't just combinations of food items but instead includes a few simple recipes.  I'm sorry, but when I see books that tell me to eat one piece of toast, a boiled egg, and a half a grapefruit...that book is going far, far away from me and it might even end up against a wall.  This one isn't like that at all.

On the exercises...
I didn't try the exercises because I have a gym membership and I kind of do my own thing with exercise.  I liked that pictures were included.  I didn't feel like I missed out on a substantial portion of the book because I decided to skip the exercises.  I still felt this book had so much to offer without them.

On the scriptures and the inspirational story...
The inclusion of scriptures is one of the reasons that I feel that this is a complete book.  It truly has something for everyone.  Staying healthy is very hard.  Cooking is time consuming, McDonalds is on every corner, and there are so many great restaurants out there.  Plus, it's hard to get up and go to the gym when it's cold or rainy.  I love that this fitness book addresses the mental and spiritual journey as well.

On the song of the day...
I glanced at the songs mentioned I didn't go look them up or download them or anything.  This is a cute addition.  I could have gone to youtube I guess but I'm just thinking of this now.

Overall, I think this one is a keeper.  I didn't follow the 28 day plan exactly. But I wanted to look at it each day.  I didn't forget about it or throw it by the wayside.  It was very useful and it did get me back on track.  I definitely used the food suggestions the most.  I also think that it is a book for any and everyone.  I'm not trying to lose a ton of weight or anything but it can be so difficult to get back on track and I think this will help with both weight loss and focus or whatever your goal may be.

  5. YES I'm glad to know someone found this book useful. I was offered to review it as well, but I know at this time its a struggle for me to eat so I would be lying if I said I was at all interested in fitness/eating.

The daily scriptures and encouragement sounds awesome though and I'm glad the book inspired you to get back on track after the holidays.
