Dewey's Read-a-Thon: Hours 19-24

This is the time of night where it gets soooo quiet on the internet.  I'll skirt around looking for people who are still giving it a go.  I'm pretty alert.  In fact, I'm actually worried about going to sleep when the readathon is over.  I'm that alert.  Ooopsey! Maybe too much coffee.

Hour 19:

Book: Not sure yet, just finished one.  Pandemonium or Changeless?  I'm so torn!
Prior Hour's progress: Finished the Sweetheart Hoax.
Mood: Pretty chill
Updates:  I finished The Sweetheart Hoax and loved it!  Grandma has called it a night so it's just me and mom.  Mom's barely hanging in after coffee but she's reading Catching Fire so I think the book choice is the only thing keeping her in.
Mini-Challenges: Theme Songs

Hour 20:

Book: The Bungalow (Yeah this came out of nowhere)
Prior Hour's progress: 30 pages
Mood: Tired (but not sleepy)
Updates: My eyes are getting tired and I'm wishing that I didn't choose an ebook.  Paperback would be nice right about now.
Mini-Challenges: Culinary Catastrophe

I totally change my mind! I'm going to target Ashley back ;P and I would so throw peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at her (they'd be overloaded too)

Hour 21:

Book: The Bungalow
Prior Hour's progress: 65 pages
Mood: Really Tired
Updates: My eyes are exhausted.  Note to self, limit the ebooks next time.
Mini-Challenges: Read-a-Thon-Crostic

Quote from Mom:  "Friend, the words are starting to go together.  I don't know if it is the words or my eyes."

Lol... she's still making it though.

Hour 22:

Book: The Bungalow
Prior Hour's progress: 60 pages
Mood: Very very tired
Updates:  My mom is hilarious.  I didn't get as much reading done because I was busy laughing at her. She finished Catching Fire and is starting Mockingjay.
Mini-Challenges: Mini Dance Party

Hour 23:

Book: The Bungalow but I only have like 10 pages
Prior Hour's progress: 65 pages
Mood: Tired wouldn't describe how I feel
Updates: Mom went to bed about 45 minutes ago.  She did such a good job, I'm really proud of her.  I'm finishing The Bungalow in the next 15 minutes and I'll start a new one even though I won't finish.  I feel like I have to make it to the finish line now.  If I get tired, I'll take a shower.  I'm not doing any more challenges.  My brain can't even consider them right now.
Mini-Challenges: Mad Lib

Hour 24:

Book:  Soulless by Gail Caringer
Prior Hour's progress: 30 pages
Mood: Grumpy and Sleepy
Updates: I've crossed the tired threshold and now I'm just plane sleepy.  With one hour to go, I'm really not sure if I can make that.  I just want to close my eyes!!  I'm off to take a shower in hopes that I'll wake up for the last little bit.
Mini-Challenges: End of Event Meme

  1. Which hour was most daunting for you? Hour 4 or 6 AND 24; around the time when the excitement dies down but we still have a long way to go.
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year? The Sweetheart Hoax by Christy Hayes and The Bungalow by Sarah Jio
  3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? Maybe update the website and move old stuff.  It can be confusing to figure out what is going on.
  4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon? hosts on readathon blogs.  There weren't any late/forgotten posts/hours this time
  5. How many books did you read? 4 1/4
  6. What were the names of the books you read?
    1. Garden Spells
    2. Veil of Night
    3. The Sweetheart Hoax
    4. The Bungalow
  7. Which book did you enjoy most? The Sweetheart Hoax
  8. Which did you enjoy least? Veil of Night
  9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders? Disallow facebook as an option for people to sign up under.  Create instructions for first-timers, possibly even a video.  It seems intuitive but it doesn't seem to be.
  10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again?  Very likely
  11. What role would you be likely to take next time? Same.  Mini-challenge host and reader

  1. Ooh Catching Fire is a great pick! Glad to see you're still hanging in there. This is my time of day. I'm a night owl and generally stay up to five and six in the morning anyway. So I think I'll be alright, at least I hope. Glad to see you're still hanging in there!

Last year I couldn't fall asleep when the read-a-thon was done! That is not fun. The next afternoon I was not really functional. :P

  6. Hey, I'm still up! It's almost 9am in the UK now, so it's getting easier for me. Changeless was one of the books in my stack, but I know I won't get to it now. I've switched to an audiobook - my eyes gave up on me.

  16. Congrats Alexis!!!! Whoot Whoot! 4.5 books that is great! I need to figure out next time how not to blog so much. I think I will only do one update on one blog and had the other one off to someone else. I feel asleep around hour 16/17. The glass of white wine did it! Note for next time. No wine! :)

But congrats on getting so much reading done! I can't believe you made it the whole way! That is so impressive! I LOVED Garden Spells and I tried to listen to the audio version of The Sugar Queen by the same author but I passed out.
