Why I Love Wednesdays... Book Worlds

Reflections of a Bookaholic

I am returning with my new feature... Why I love which takes place on Wednesdays. Today's proclamation of love concerns our Favorite Book Worlds

Why I Love...Hogwarts
I really try to diversify my answers.  I don't want to rave about the same thing every week.  Well I try not to.  Sometimes despite my best intentions, this sometimes happens (see the many references to Gone with the Wind and Rhett Butler).  This is one of those topics where I just can't stop myself.  My favorite book world is most definitely the world of Harry Potter.  I would so love to visit Hogwarts.  I'm getting kind of old, but I look young so maybe there is still time (*crossing fingers*).

Anyways, I love Hogwarts and the magical world presented in the Harry Potter series because it is one of the few worlds that I would love to live in.  Some of my favorite books (i.e. Gone with the Wind, The Hunger Games, etc.) have book worlds, I would NEVER want to live in for obvious reasons.  I will admit that I have some magical capabilities when I imagine myself in this world, but you know...anything's possible right?  Don't answer that.

I couldn't think of any honorable mentions off the top of my head.  Maybe the world in Dragon Bound?  Thoughts?

Which Book Worlds do you love? Feel free to create your own post and link up.  Don't want to create an entire post?  Tell me your favorites in the comments.  Thanks for stopping by for another week of Why I Love Wednesdays!!

  1. Great minds Alexis because I picked HP too. There really is no other fictional world I'd rather be. None created as memorable, lovingly, or as vivd as Hogwarts. I'm itching to start re-reading this series. Can't wait for March! LOVE your pick!

    1. I agree! I haven't read the series is a long time. This is a series I could definitely reread.

  2. So many fantasy worlds :D Though I would like to live in them at a time of peace ;)

  3. Hogwarts is one of the few worlds that made me wish I had gone to Boarding School as a kid :)

    1. I know! It made boarding school sound so wonderful. I had never given it much thought before. Before, characters in books were sent to boarding school if there parents were too busy or if the character was seen as a "bad" kid.

  4. Maybe we could teach at Hogwarts. Muggles 101 or something... Haha. That's not very exciting, is it? You could still get an owl. You never know. ;)

If I could visit any book world, it would be The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman.

    1. I need to look into that one. I think I could teach at Hogwarts...maybe. Lol.

  5. Such an amazing world. I do wish it were real, rather than a theme park. Though I'm long past the time of being a student there, I'd make a great teacher--Defense Against the Dark Arts, perhaps.

    1. I do wish it were real as well. Maybe I could be a hall monitor?!

  6. I love Hogwarts! This is a great meme, by the way. I might start doing this. :)

  7. Hogwarts and everyone HP location is simply amazing. J.K. Rowling provided us with so much detail and everything seemed mysterious and magical. I would prefer being at Hogwarts though not during any war time. Maybe during book three would be the best!

    1. I know. I wish there were more worlds like this! So many worlds are fascinating but scary. At least in the beginning, J.K. Rowling created a world that anyone would love to be a part of.

  8. I love Hogwarts too!! I have to say that Book 1 was it for me. The others got to dark and scary. Book 1 was the best!!!

    1. Lol. Book 1 was one of my favorites. Things definitely got darker but it took a bit. Book 6 was the worst for me.

  9. I don't enjoy many books set in other worlds - Harry Potter and Hogwarts was an exception. I also enjoyed the undersea world of the dolphins in Dolphin Way by Mark Caney.

    1. I bet an undersea world would be wonderful though I haven't read Dolphin Way. I can only imagine.

  10. I love, love, love Hogwarts! It is by far my favorite world as well and I would love to spend time in it. I've read the books many times and I never fail to get lost in the movies no matter how many times I've watched them. There's just something about that magical world that takes you away. Just seeing the picture makes me want to watch the movies again. Lol

Yahoooo on your new commenting system!

    1. I still get lost in the movies as well. Thanks! I'm glad I switched but I'm still itching to switch back. *sigh* I guess I can't have it all.

  12. I love magical worlds too. There's a romance one I love. It's called the Sugar Maple series about a magical town in Vermont.

  13. I don't think I have read a book where the world building is as developed as Hogwarts and it's surrounding areas. Not only is i

Though they aren't really "worlds" I love the societies in Delirium and The Hunger Games. They are so different from what we know, but at the same time they kind of reflect our own society too. Does that sound weird?

    1. I do love the societies in both those books. I really appreciated how different they were. The authors were so creative. But I wouldn't want to live there but I can read it over and over.

  15. I know that feeling...to not be able to help yourself but rave about a beloved favorite. I would totally live in Hogwarts, but only if I could also have a protective bubble around me at all times. The place can be down right dangerous sometimes.

    1. I don't think I need the bubble. I just need to live/visit during book 1 :)

  16. I so want to go to Hogwarts just by looking at that picture. I know it's not the real Hogwarts (Okay, I know there's not a real Hogwarts), but I definitely want to visit Universal Studios to feel like I'd be at Hogwarts. I'm happy Universal in Cali is going to be adding a HP theme park!

See...how believable HP is! I actually feel like there's a real Hogwarts! And when will Pottermore be up and going for other people besides Betas? Sorry, just wanted to gripe.

    1. I'll have to visit the themepark. I just wish there was a real Hogwarts.

  17. I definitely have to agree with you about Harry Potter's world. I'd have to answer it too! And it tends to be the answer to many book-related questions, but I guess it just shows just how great and lovable series it is!

    1. It is the answer but I try to show that I've read more and I'd like to think I'm creative. But when it's good, it's good I guess.
