My Review:
I really enjoyed this audio. The plot is very unique and I really didn't know what to expect as the story progressed. Though the conflict wrapped up in a pretty little bow, it was very difficult getting there. The characters seemed so real, not quite perfect and a bit selfish at times. It took a while for them to learn from their mistakes but I enjoyed the journey. Ms. Landor was not my favorite narrator but she was good enough for me to enjoy the story. I would consider listening to another book narrated by her though. I'm quite curious about the other characters and would love to read more of this series. If you like a good historical romance or you want to read a premise that hasn't been overdone, give this one a try.
Oooh now the concept for this historical sounds unique. I do love a good historical and can see myself picking this one up to try. I still want to try her Wallflower series you and a few others have suggested. Great review.
ReplyDeleteI truly need to read a book by her. I do got one of her contemporary ones, so one day :)
ReplyDeleteAhh I just read one from Lisa Kleypas - "Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor" and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite authors!!
ReplyDeleteI think I might give this one a shot in audio form, as I really like the other Capitol Theater book - Because You're Mine? - but somehow I never got around reading the this book.
ReplyDeleteWhat year does this one take place in? From the synopsis it's hard to place. Sounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteI finally got my mom to start reading your blog. She likes this review and is sitting here downloading it onto her new tablet. LOL!! Mom says "Thanks!"
ReplyDeleteNice review. I'm not an avid audio book listener. But I would likely pass on this one simply because it's historical romance which is my least favorite genre, plus add audio and I'd probably go to sleep, regardless of the author. But I enjoyed reading your review.
ReplyDeleteOooh Wallflower series is awesome. Start with that one for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if I've ever read one of her contemporary books. I think she is a win. I haven't read one of hers that I didn't like.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to get my hands on it before the holiday season is over.
ReplyDeleteI really like Lisa Kleypas. She delivers consistently good reads.
ReplyDeleteThey were minor hangups. I can seem a little picky I know.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the few books that I think will be fine in either form.
ReplyDeleteI will read the next one. I'm assuming it is Logan Scott's story.
I think this is 19th century London. They still have dowries but it seems to be a period where women have a bit more freedom.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's good you enjoyed it despite the little hang ups. :)
