Review: Die For Me (Audiobook)

Die for Me by Amy Plum
Genre: Paranormal, Paranormal Romance, YA
Length: 9 hours 20 minutes
Narrated by Julia Whelan

"I can't promise you an ordinary experience, Kate. I wish I could transform myself into a normal man and be there for you, always, without the trauma that defines my life as "the walking dead." Since that isn't possible, I can only reassure you that I will do everything in my power to make it up to you. To give you more than a normal boyfriend could.
I have no idea what that will mean, exactly, but I'm looking forward to finding out. With you."

My Review:

Kate moves to Paris after the death of her parents and attempts to adjust to her new life, while dealing with her grief.  There she meets Vincent and discovers he is a Revenant, an undead zombie (kind of) who saves the lives of others.  As Kate becomes closer to Vincent, she discovers there is more to the undead and questions whether she is emotionally capable of being in a relationship with Vincent.

I enjoyed this book primarily because I found the idea of good and bad Revenant very unique and interesting. There are a few YA cliches present such as dead/missing parents and insta-love, but it wasn't distracting.  I liked the characters but wasn't overly attached. There was an instance when Kate goes to Vincent's home to discuss an issue and her grandmother/guardian tells her she could stay the night if she needs to.  She is 16!!!  this is crazy.  I was like what?!  Things like this really bother with YA.

Overall the unique storyline kept me interested but there were a few unrealistic moments.  Julia Whelan did a good job.  This is a series so I would consider reading the next so I can hear more about the Revenant.
