Why I Love...Rhett Butler
Because he's sexy!!
In other news...
Rhett Butler has got to be the biggest misunderstood character of all time. Everyone thought he was such a scoundrel. He had tons of money when everyone in the south had lost their wealth. Oh and wasn't born with it. Can you believe? He worked for it. Isn't that just horrible?! It even appeared that he was getting richer because of the Civil War. How DARE he!? OMG... there's more! He wanted and married that dreadful Scarlett!! (I <3 Rhett).
I have to admit the dark hair and mustache made him look...darker (sexy).
Oh but he is so misunderstood. While the world at the time judged and ostracized those who didn't fit in their social class, Rhett befriends Belle Watling, who runs a brothel, slaves, and freed Negroes alike. No, he won't stop until he gets what he wants, but that's just persistence. And yes, he can come across as a bit snarky, but that's just sarcasm and wit. He stands his ground instead of running. He saves that wimpy Ashley from being arrested (my hero), even if he had to act drunk to accomplish it. It broke my heart when he was so distraught after his own personal tragedy. He really had a heart. He's a big softy! Best of all, he understands Scarlett. Her feminine wiles/tricks don't work on him; thus, he loves her for her. It's so romantic I can't stand it!
Oh and the best part? He has the BEST line of all time...
P.S. Rhett Butler is a character from the book Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Which misunderstood character do you love?? My runner-up was Severus Snape. What was yours? Feel free to create your own post and link up. Don't want to create an entire post? Tell me your favorites in the comments. Thanks for stopping by for another week of Why I Love Wednesdays!!
