Lacey has so much hope when the day starts. While the story takes place in the span of a day, Williams manages to tell Momma's and Aunt Linda's story through the thoughts and memories of 13-year-old Lacey. The end is gripping and I found myself tremendously invested in Lacey's hopes and fears. Lacey's voice is vivid but she doesn't come across as a 13 year-old. I would have pictured her younger. Overall, this is an amazingly well-written read that felt like a thriller/suspense at times. Loved it!
