Check In: Best of... Reading Challenge

I just wanted to check-in and update how my Best of... challenge is going.  It is something that I've wanted to do for years and I'm still really excited about it.  If you want to know more about what I'm doing, you can find my challenge post here.

Here's my progress:



It doesn't look like much but I'm doing okay.  I've finished a few books (the "X") and I'm currently reading ("CR") My Lady Jane and currently listening ("CL") to A Midnight Star.  In some cases, to get to the books on this list, I've got to read the previous books in the series.  So while it doesn't look like much, I have made a bit of progress.

I've been slowed down by My Lady Jane, which I'm not enjoying.  And I'm intimidated by how many books I have to read in in some of these series. But I'm still super excited. I need to pick it up and I plan to but right now

Any recommendations on what I should read next?  Has anyone else wanted to test out some of these Best of the best lists?

Oopsey! My Feed Has Changed

I do want to put it out there that my old RSS feed no longer works.  I bought a new web address and in my hurry (i.e. that time I didn't follow the directions), I changed the feed without keeping my followers.  I feel sad about it because now people can't find me.

Sooo... if I'm not talking to myself, please re-follow my blog so we can connect again.  It can be lonely out here in these streets.

Book Babble: Updates, Giveaways, and More

I thought managing the blog while in law school was hard but it wasn't.  It only took time management skills (ONLY!).  Managing the blog in my new lawyer role is completely different and I'm still trying to figure it out so please bare with me.  In law school, I was on the computer 24/7, whether I was taking and reviewing notes, reading, studying, or outlining, my computer was right there.  It was nothing for me to pick up my computer during a study break and comment on a few blogs.  THAT LIFE IS OVER!  Now I'm running around court rooms, waiting for hearings (without hearings), and attending happy hours :) and when I get home, I don't want to touch my computer.  I'm getting reading in, I'm just not blogging about it.  I'm hoping to find some kind of balance soon.  I miss being consistent.  That used to be a source of pride for me.

A HUGE shout out to Alysia from My Little Pocketbooks and Mocha Girls Read for my care package straight from BEA.  Who does that?!  Really!  I'm so grateful for the wonderful books.  I was planning to go to BEA but it didn't work out but it felt good knowing that I was thought of.  I can't wait to dig in.

I've moved.  Again.  I'm back in Austin because the Hubby got a new job.  This is the last move for a long time.  Promise.

In other news, my brother (who some of you will remember was in a horrible accident a couple a while back) is back on his own for the first time since his accident.  I'm so happy and excited for him.  Luckily we are still in the same city so I can check on him.

I've got so many blog posts, reviews, and exciting new events... in my head.  Hopefully, I can pull it out of my head through my fingers and unto the blog.  One day!  Ta-ta for now :)

Updates and STUFF!!

Updates!!  Everyone likes updates right?  Okay maybe not really but I just want everyone to know what's going on and what's to come (hopefully).

1.  I'm behind in EVERYTHING!

No really.  I have emails and comments to reply to, review requests to read, and blogs to visit.  It's ridiculous.  I'm getting there.  I've learned that I blog or read.  I can't seem to do both at the same time.  I used to be ahead of my reading and reviews and spend that time doing blog stuff.  Kind of switch back and forth every couple of weeks.  Right now, I'm reading.  And I haven't switched back.  And I don't feel like doing some of the stuff that makes me look like a blogger who has it together.  Oopsey!

2.  Blog Revamp to come.

Slowly and surely I'm working on a blog revamp.  It's going to be big and very different.  I'm excited but I have no idea when it will be ready.  I previously suggested that I was ready to switch to Wordpress.  But I'm not.  I know that Wordpress is the new great thing for blogs but I don't think I'll be blogging forever.  I like that everything I've been doing will stay on here if I decide to walk away tomorrow.  I don't want to continue to pay self-hosting fees for the rest of my life just to keep up a blog that I'm no longer working on and I don't want it to disappear.

Plus...I like blogger.  It's not perfect but whatever.
