Updates!! Everyone likes updates right? Okay maybe not really but I just want everyone to know what's going on and what's to come (hopefully).
1. I'm behind in EVERYTHING!
No really. I have emails and comments to reply to, review requests to read, and blogs to visit. It's ridiculous. I'm getting there. I've learned that I blog or read. I can't seem to do both at the same time. I used to be ahead of my reading and reviews and spend that time doing blog stuff. Kind of switch back and forth every couple of weeks. Right now, I'm reading. And I haven't switched back. And I don't feel like doing some of the stuff that makes me look like a blogger who has it together. Oopsey!
2. Blog Revamp to come.
Slowly and surely I'm working on a blog revamp. It's going to be big and very different. I'm excited but I have no idea when it will be ready. I previously suggested that I was ready to switch to Wordpress. But I'm not. I know that Wordpress is the new great thing for blogs but I don't think I'll be blogging forever. I like that everything I've been doing will stay on here if I decide to walk away tomorrow. I don't want to continue to pay self-hosting fees for the rest of my life just to keep up a blog that I'm no longer working on and I don't want it to disappear.
Plus...I like blogger. It's not perfect but whatever.
3. My Life Is a Bit Crazy (and I've Become a Whiner).
Bar results come out in November. I'm working full time and living with a friend until then. I miss my kitchen (and foodie Fridays) and my hubby (I almost forgot to say that). The election is driving me crazy (but I like it). I'm reading tons of YA because I'm working on these challenges and it is making me overly angsty and emotional. I have tons of great ideas for posts but I'm too lazy to write them. I've added a kickboxing class to my workout schedule just so I can eat german chocolate cupcakes.
My brother just finished his third round of physical therapy. He's recovering pretty well. I realized that I mentioned the accident in January but didn't tell everyone his injuries or update you. He's recovering from two broken femurs, a broken elbow, a broken leg, multiple lacerations in various places and a spinal injury. He's walking, driving, and he's back to teasing me and being pretty mean. Eh. He's got another year of physical therapy I believe and I believe the next goal is running/jogging.
That's it.
Yay you exist! Take all the you need Alex, fall is always the ! Can't wait to see the new blog
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteTake your time. Sometimes you have to do what you can to make things stay afloat. We understand. ;)
ReplyDeleteYay for your brother feeling better and getting back to his old self. :)
I love Blogger. I am totally and utterly happy with it. It's not perfect but it's for me. And you are sooooo right on not having to pay.
So are you going with a sleeker look? That seems to be all the rage these days.
My ultimate goal is to unclutter the sidebar and create a drop down menu that I love. The biggest thing is that I'm updating my theme and going away from the color scheme that I currently have.
DeleteOh my gosh - girl you are busy and dealing with a lot! I actually like your blog design, but yeah - change is good too :-) Hope you're not too stressed out - or at least good books (and wine) are helping to relieve some of the pressure.

I like my blog design too. I loved the one I had before this. That's what is so hard really. I want change but I want it to look better than what I currently have. Why move backwards. It's hard when I'm so attached to this one.
DeleteYes, I remember your brother's accident! So he is still recovering? Wow that is amazing. I am so glad that he is doing better!
ReplyDeleteMe too! It's been tough for him.
DeleteWell. This is a pretty significant update. I cannot bear to hear you say you will not be blogging forever. Can't we all just pretend that you will? I can't blog without you. Belle
ReplyDeleteLol. We can definitely pretend. That's way more fun anyway.
DeleteWow, November's going to be huge for you with the election and bar results! I used to go through periods of blogging or reading like you, but I'm trying hard to schedule stuff. Of course, I work part time, and I get to read at work so I actually have no excuse. But sometimes it's good to not take blogging so seriously.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the changes on your blog! I sometimes think about switching to Wordpress, but I'm happy with Blogger.
I like to schedule things as well. It's the only thing that is keeping the blog functioning. November is a big month. I hope everything goes well. It's so scary.
DeleteGood luck with everything! Sometimes it can be intense to try and keep up with blogging with everything else going on, but real life stuff and your sanity (!) are far more important. =)
ReplyDeleteYes. I'm just lazy at this point though.
DeleteI am glad to hear that your brother is doing better. My fingers crossed for the BAr results.
ReplyDeleteAs for reading and blogging, I hear ya
Thanks!
DeleteYou certainly have a lot going on there. Glad to hear things are going well with your brother's recovery! I still think about that and wish him the best.
ReplyDeleteI seem to get into my cycles too. I read more when I'm feeling good. I feel like I'm flying through books right now. But change is good, so I can't wait to see your new design although I'll miss this one. I've always been fond of your lady and the animal print.
PS: I'm with you on the election. At this point I just want it to be over and I never want to hear a commercial that ends with: This message was approved by....AGAIN!
Lol. It's different for you Jade because you are in swing state. When I visited a friend in Virginia a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't believe it. Lol. Those ads are crazy. I mean there is no peace from them.
DeletePlus when people get upset they do stupid things. After the Republican convention, a few people in Austin started hanging empty chairs. It was so repugnant.
*hugs*
ReplyDeleteI'm so behind on my inbox that I don't even want to look at it!! LOL
And I'm with you on the WP thing. I put a dummy blog on a free account there but there was so much left to do after two days working on it that I just never went back and I don't want to pay so I can get the cool stuff so I'm just abandoning that project. LOL Blogger drives me nuts when it gets buggy but most of the time is ok.
Sorry about the crazy life! I'm sure you did great on your Bar exams!!
And yay for your brother getting better!
My email... I feel like people probably think I'm a horrible blogger. I just don't even know where to start.
DeleteGood luck with everything! By the way, I like blogger too. I would have used that, but my blog name wasn't available! Glad to hear your brother is doing better.:-)

I'm glad to hear your brother is recovering steadily. Those injuries sound horrible! Yeah, the blogging. Sometimes it just flows and sometimes it doesn't :( No worries, though. I think it happens to all of us.
ReplyDeleteCrossing fingers for your November results! I'm sure you did great :)
Yes! November is around the cover. I want it to hurry and get here but then again I don't.
DeleteSo glad to hear your brother's doing well - he's come so far already, I'm sure he'll be running before you know it. And I'm so intrigued by your new blog changes - can't wait to see them! I've been helping my dad run his webpage for work on Wordpress and it's definitely not as user-friendly as Blogger. I think you've made the right decision to stick with it.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to unveil something new but I'm a little nervous. I don't really know why.
