Why I Love Wednesdays... Gifted Books

Reflections of a Bookaholic

I am returning with my new feature... Why I love which takes place on Wednesdays. Today's proclamation of love concerns our Favorite Book Given or Received as a Gift

Why I Love...Cookbooks!!

Now I must admit that this week's topic is a bit confusing.  Even I can't remember what I actually meant when I chose this topic so let's all just run with it mmkay? Great.

I actually get very few books gifted to me and I understand why.  I mean, it can be difficult to choose a book for someone else.  It is doubly difficult when you aren't a reader, which is the case for most of the people who tend to give me gifts.  Well except for Jade.  Jade, you are one of the only people (the only person) who gives me bookish gifts and I heart you for that because you so don't have to do that.  Anyways.  I do get cookbooks as gifts and it is one of my favorite bookish gifts.  A close family member of mine works for Cooking Light Magazine and I'm always begging for cookbooks that I hear about or slyly inquire about .  Because she loves me and because I'm a very annoying person, sometimes she sends them my way (or she sends them to other family members and I just steal them).  I count these as gifts.  I'm pretty sure this counts.  Boy am I rambling tonight.

This could even be considered a group gift as these are the books that I am using for upcoming Foodie Fridays!

Okay enough of the madness.  What great books have you been gifted?

  3. People don't buy me books for gifts either! Not even cookbooks, but I wish they did. :-) I was gifted a set of books one time (The Left Behind Series), but that was mainly because my friend was trying to get me to read them. She succeeded, as I did enjoy them.

  5. Nice topic!
I love cooking books too, and I love when they include little general culture notes, you know? like tell you a little of the region or country that the food comes from.

Now Gifts, I have gotten a few gifted books lately and I guessI love my Love Bites Happy Bunny book, because a friend of mine got it for me because she knew I loved it and I got it for a birthday that hadn't been great but when the little book arrived to my mailbox a few days after my birthday it just made me happy.

  6. I'm pretty bad at it, but my best friend is always gifting me Kindle books she liked, particularly funny memoirs. It's such a great surprise to click open your email and find a great book there waiting for you. Clearly, I need to follow her example!

    1. I've never received a gifted book in that way but it sounds like a great surprise. Actually I've received surprise gift cards in my email and it is such a great feeling. I think I need to return the favor as well.

  7. I am also a huge fan of cookbooks. Personally, I like to collect cookbooks from different cuisines. Some of my favorites are Middle Eastern, Jewish, and German. There is always so much to learn from them. Great post!

  8. Sadly, most people don't buy me books either. I wish they would though, instead of other gifts of course. And cookbooks would be awesome. They always encourage me to try new things!
