Description:
The Dream Thieves picks up right where The Raven Boys ends. With the characters all introduced, we continue into the magical and mysterious world. Glendower falls a bit into the background as the reader is introduced to Ronan and his story. More characters AND more mysteries are introduced and sadly more questions are left unanswered.
Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after…
On the story...
I liked this one a bit more than The Raven Boys. While I rated this one as "good," it just barely slips into this category. After this books, Ronan became my favorite character. I like his bad boy exterior and his protectiveness of his family. Ms. Stiefvater really gives dimension to these characters. I was intrigued by Ronan's special skill. However, I didn't like that even more characters were introduced and more unanswered questions. I was frustrated that some of the questions in the first book remained unanswered.
On the narrator...
This is going to get repetitive as a review all of the books in this series but I didn't care for Mr. Patton as a narrator. His voice makes the characters sound too old and he doesn't do a great job with the women. Though, he does a great job of having a different voice for each character and there are a ton of characters at this point.
Overall...
I'm on the fence on this series. If I hadn't committed to this challenge, I probably wouldn't have finished the series.
