So Confused...but I'm still on BlogLovin

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Can someone (anyone!) explain this site that I just signed up for.  I know it is silly to sign up for something that you don't understand but I don't mind being silly.  You guys know me.

Last gif I promise.

I joined because I wanted to check my feeds.  But then they have this following section that tells me I'm following <300 people on blogluvin.  Why is that number so low and how did it get there?  I just joined today.

Plus I only have like 30 people following me on blogluvin.  I just don't know what this means (and why is that number so low)!!

I just want a freakin reader!  Somebody FIX ME!

  1. If you were on Google Reader before, you have to import your subscriptions to Bloglovin. I don't know how your following list got there but those who follow you have done it on their own before, just like you could add a site to google reader directly and not through GFC. You might want to check out Feedly as a reader because it has an option of displaying full articles like google reader does and not only on picture and a sentence like Bloglovin'.

    1. I have feedly but I really can't get the hang of that one. It's the simplest things that I can't find in either options. I really want simplicity in scrolling through posts. Right now I don't have that in either option. It's bugging me.

  2. OK! I looked into Bloglovin'. And it looks like a reader for fashion blogs mostly. I love the icons. Go to Feedly! Install it and get the app. It is so cool and easy to use. All I have to figure out is how to add a Feedly icon to my blog.

  3. Here's what I think I've figured out so far.

The following section on the left are the blogs you are following. If you imported your Reader subscriptions, that's where they came from. It hides from the list the ones where you've read all of the entries, so look for those at the bottom. The highlighted number is the number of unread posts.

Sidenote: You follow more than 300 people?! Dang girl. You crazy.

The followers number is only people who follow you using Bloglovin. So that number should go up the more people use it and find you on there. I don't think it ports this number over from anywhere, and it's separate from the number of subscribers you may have through Feedburner or other services.

    I hope that helps.

    1. Thanks so much. It does help. I think it was confusing me that I already had people who followed me on bloglovin even though I just started.

  4. I used bloglovin for several days & it just wasn't what I wanted -- I wanted to follow my rss feeds not find a new network. Plus there weren't any keyboard shortcuts. I switched to feedly & am now much happier -- good luck.

    1. I'm not looking for a new network either. I've also joined feedly but I'm not sure if that is working for me either.

  5. I'm trying Feedly and BlogLovin. I'm not sold on either. I'm trying out Old Reader next. Wish me luck!

    1. I'm on the queue for Old Reader. I'm hoping that solves everything.

  6. I'm using Bloglovin, and so far it's alright. I wish it showed the whole article, but I know it's also better if I click on things to read them because it ups people's stats, so I'm okay with it.

Also - jeez you follow 300 people? Holy crap! Lol. And don't freak out about how many followers Bloglovin says you have - that's only people that are following you using Bloglovin - people with email subscriptions or following you in other readers wouldn't be counted there.

    Good luck!

    1. I think you can get it to show the whole article. It's the scrolling issue that gets me. I also like that I can scroll to other blogs from each blog after clicking. But that only works if the page doesn't reload because of a comment. So it still isn't quite right.

Yes, I follow > 300 people. Le Sigh. I've tried to get the list down once for various reasons but I was so attached for various reasons. They aren't all book blogs though. Some of them are hair and food blogs. I just lurk on those. I don't comment. So it isn't time consuming like book blogs.

  7. I'm just getting used to feedly and I'm OK with it. I think it's probably more powerful than Google Reader but I'm still navigating around it and trying to get used to it. I'm not sold on BlogLovin' yet...let us know how it goes!

  8. Bloglovin did not allow me to share from my Nook Color. Could not use Feedly there, tried a bunch of others. The Old Reader way too small to read on my Nook.
My favorite is Taptu: no need to install, great interface and synch between my Nook Color (free app) and my PC. see here why I love it: http://wordsandpeace.com/2013/03/18/taptu-best-google-reader-alternative-for-nook-color/

  9. I don't love Bloglovin and like you - I don't want another network to follow people. I'll probably do a post next week on how to set up Feedly to look like Google Reader - that's how I have it set up.

    1. I'm actually getting accustomed to Feedly and like it a bit more. I wonder if I can change the default. I hate having to change how it looks every time I get on.

  10. BlogLovin' lets you follow any blog you want, so it's not necessarily specific to a certain genre. I have several categories, such as politics, active book blogs, regular book blogs, and professional book blogs. I love it!
