My Rating:
I've loved Julie Garwood for some time and I had read all of her books carried by my library. When I saw this one at my eLibrary, I jumped at the opportunity to give it a listen. It didn't let me down. The characters were funny. Duncan's brothers really made me smile. Plus I love protective men. Lady Madelyne was a bit naive but I loved how she stayed true to her morals and was consistent throughout the novel. The side plots were entertaining. I really enjoyed the narrator as well. Ms. Flosnik did a great job with the different voices. While the plot doesn't stand out for historical romance standards, the story is told quite well and I loved the characters. For that, I wouldn't have missed this one for the world.
I should give an audio book a try. This one sounds good. Our library carries a small amount of audio books, I will have to look for this one.

I think audiobooks take a little time to get used to but I've started to really get into them.
DeleteI havent heard of this author before. I will have to start picking her up!
ReplyDeleteOh she has a lot of great ones.
DeleteI've never read anything by Garwood! Surprisingly, my dad has. But I think he reads her romantic suspense. I should try a audiobook too.
ReplyDeleteI've read a bunch by her but I haven't revisited her for a while. My mom read her and I would sneak and read them. I think all her books are a bit above the rest.
DeleteI've only read a couple of her books so far, although I have several more waiting in the wings, but I have loved everyone. She has a gift for writing historicals so I'm not surprised you loved this one. I'm really going to have to give listening to a historical a try. I was sold on this one at "The Wolf", how I love them. He sounds like my kind of historical guy!
ReplyDeleteI really love her as an author. She has a way of making a premise that isn't especially unique stand out. I also love her characters.
DeleteI've only read a few Garwood, and I keep meaning to read more. Maybe audiobook is the way to go - I just put it on my list to look for at the library! :)
ReplyDeleteShe's a comfort read for me.
DeleteI have never read a book by her, and I call myself a romance lover, haha, shame on me ;)
